It lays claim to all the normal boasts of perfect curls, minimum effort and salon professional transformations. I beg to differ.
Bought at my daughters behest, to bring some form to her poker straight hair, I chose this particular version because it bore no resemblance to my 90's tongs and appeared idiot proof.
The 19mm tong heats to 170°C and has a '4X design protection; ceramic, anti-static, tourmaline ionic and smooth glide coating. I believe this could mean that it isn't going to reduce your hair to brittle straw, but we all know the variety of heat protection products available. Therefore read it as 'it will take longer to ruin you hairs health', still a better reassurance than many give.
A curling tong with an easy 'spiral guide' and a spring clip to hold hair in place. The clip barely holds hair, until you try to unclip it, then it proceeds to scalp you strand by strand. The guide itself is designed for longer hair and struggles with layers, but it also struggles with thick hair.
A long cable is definitely a bonus point and the Easy Curl is aesthetically pleasing with its red glitter handle and matt wand. It has two small rubber nubs on the handle to allow you to rest it without it rolling off a unit. It also comes with a heat proof bag, though a heat proof mat would feel safer and less of a fire hazard.
If you do manage to conquer which way the hair is required to curl into the spiral guide, it only takes 10 seconds to produce that beautiful curl (Unless you have thick hair, long hair, damp hair, hair with product in it.). I found it takes quite a bit longer, and I didn't manage the same smug model smile displayed on the box. Especially when the curls I did manage only lasted a couple of hours.
