This campaign is for McCain Ready Baked Jacket potatoes and it
involves a one voucher for a 2 pack of the microwavable baked potatoes and 5x
pass along vouchers for 50p off.
I'm a BzzAgent BzzAgent Den BzzAgent Denise and love the benefits of
testing new products for free and being the first to find out about new
gadgets and gimmicks.
McCain has been a staple of kitchens and mealtimes for as long as I can remember, specialising in potato products it wasn't the greatest leap to imagine them revitalising the humble baked tatty.
They were surprisingly authentic and could easily pass for real oven cooked, with a crisp shell and super fluffy insides, they are the real thing flavour. Ideal with all the usual fillings like beans and cheese, chilli and tuna.
Perhaps for those with instantaneous cravings or for work lunches, but on the whole how hard is it to just throw one in the oven? Is the microwave a really necessary tool, well I do know more than a few people with either the lack of time or confidence who prefer the idea.
They are available now in the freezer section ( with the chips astonishingly), Tesco has them listed online for £1.65 for a box of 2. To my mind a very expensive quick fix, especially when there are other brands doing the same thing for £2.30 for a box of 4.
Pricey brand names aside I can see why these will appeal to a variety of people, but the price and product don't seem worthy or viable for my budget. No matter how lazy I might feel, I simply couldn't justify buying these when I can buy a bag of potato's for under a pound!
On a side note; I love their latest advertising campaign! After working with scent specialists for 3 months McCain have engineered a baked potato scent which they intend to fill bus stops and supermarket aisle with at the push of a button. There is also the scented Tatty Taxi's roaming the streets, in case you happened to miss the smell everywhere else...
