I decided to include a more varied approach, nestled between badminton and hockey are those pastimes more suited to gentler pace. Walking, bowls, camera clubs; all will have a small manageable amount of exercise, but under the guise of a potential hobby.
I prefer the idea of joining a group rather than a class, it provides a generally more relaxed form of socialisation and is often something a person can enjoy in a more varied situation. Who wouldn't rather be exploring new places with a camera; as opposed to staring a wall while being shouted at by an overachieving leotard clad instructor.
Now I'm fully aware I probably have very few followers that are local to me, but I thought there might be some interest in the local classes I found. Even if the only time this post is found is by a spurned love branching out from Facebook stalking, I still hope it will be helpful.

Valley Ramblers
We
are a friendly group of approximately 160 members who enjoy the
opportunity to explore Scotland`s natural heritage and its beautiful
countryside. We also hold social events including an annual ceilidh,
theatre nights, and weekend walking trips.
Our walk programme is very varied and covers an area from Braemar to the English Lakes. Two walks of varying difficulty are organised every second Sunday throughout the year, so we`re sure you will be able to find walks to suit you.
A coach leaves Hamilton at 8.30 am; (unless stated otherwise on the walk programme). It is often fully booked so make a point of reserving a seat to avoid disappointment.
