Bzzagent Veet EasyWax Electrical Roll-On Kit Review

I'm a +BzzAgent +BzzAgent Den +BzzAgent Denise  and love the
benefits of testing new products for free and being the first to find out about new gadgets and gimmicks.

This campaign is for Veet EasyWax Electrical Roll-on, and involves the self-heating electrical device and cable with a  base to hold the device, and a 50ml roll-on wax refill, specially designed for use on legs & arms. In a separate box there was a 50ml roll-on wax refill, for use on bikini and underarm. Both boxes came with non-woven strips, a set of Perfect Finish Wipes and a beginners guide to waxing booklet.

Unlike previous Bzz campaigns there was no money off coupons this time, however there was an offer to get 50% off the Veet EasyWax system at Amazon. The products had to be sold by Amazon to work with the voucher code EASYWAX4 and it expires on June 30 2013.

The packaging ticks all the right boxes; lots of pink and text telling you how easy it is to use. Guaranteed to stand out in a shop and attract innocent people to its wonders. The unit requires firmness to make it stay in the base, but its not fragile, so its not too much of a worry. The cartridges for the wax are easily inserted and come in two sizes; one for large areas and one for sensitive areas.

Right first things first... ignore the time scale mentioned on the instructions. The claim of it taking between 20 minutes to a maximum of 40 minutes to heat the wax is ridiculous. After  40 minutes the wax is warm enough for application, the 20 minutes only applies if you live in an oven. That out of the way application is easy, go with the grain and be very firm to apply the removal strips.

In all honesty I found the whole system a faff. After pre-planning hair removal, I found that the wax performed poorly at removing more than a couple of a hairs. Even after recovering the same area the hair seemed to be destined to stay. I did continue, hoping that my technique was at fault and I would improve as I covered more area. But after trying for about 20 minutes I gave up completely.

A lot of time was spend scrubbing at the remaining wax with the ineffectual Perfect Finish Wipes, which seemed to be oil covered strips of grease proof paper. On the hottest day of the year so far I had the choice between pink wax stained legs or trousers,  and yes I was roasted alive!

Now pain is always a concern with any hair removal product, and waxing is no different. If you wax at home or epilate you'll be fine, but for any long term shavers... This will sting and you will wonder what on Earth you were thinking! To put in in perspective I've been epilating for about 8 years and found it completely painless. However I found a willing first time volunteer for chest waxing; step up The Watcher!
As you can see in the pictures the hair was beyond the required 2-5 mm length but the Veet kit was still very effective. There was hair left after but I think that the long hair protected all the shorter ones and a second application would suffice to tidy it up. Being a man he claimed it wasn't painful, but the strain was clear and much wincing was in evidence. However he did state that it was something he would do again.

For me the whole system isn't worth it, and barring the 50% off offer I think it would be cheaper and quicker to go to a beauticians. It is a great idea and so much handier than every other wax at home kit, the self contained containers are a bonus. There's non enough waxing strips for the cartridges and and the after-care wipes are laughable. If waxing at home is your preference then it definitely worth a try, but for speed and newcomers I might be tempted to pass on it.
