TRND Freixenet ICE Cava Review

Alrighty then; new day, new testing forum to review. This time up it's Trnd who have reviewed everything from Brut deodorant to Hansgrohe shower heads. My first big blog review is for Freixenet ICE Cava, a light refreshing wine designed to be served over ice and mint leaves on those gorgeous summer days.

I was lucky enough to receive 3 bottles of Freixenet ICE Cava, no vouchers with this campaign but I have found that even the mention of alcohol is a great way to spread the word about a product.

Cava is made in the same method as Champagne, but it hails from Spain specifically the Penedès region. Being the first cava developed to be enjoyed over ice makes Freixenet ICE an exciting innovation. The winemakers blended the classical cava grapes with Chardonnay for a richer consistency and slightly sweeter style, perfect to be enjoyed in a big wine glass, over great chunks of ice. Just add a sprig of mint and you'll have the refreshing drink that our campaign capturates: #CavaIceMint .

I tried it on it's own and also with mint and ice, and yes it was refreshing, however I have a sweet tooth and an adventurous appetite. So we mixed it up with a few varieties. Frozen raspberries and basil was quite a favourite and very complimentary especially as the fruit defrosted.

Mixed with fresh pomegranate, fresh peach juice, and summer fruits. The peach was my far and away favourite, perhaps because it reflects the documented peach notes.

Definitely something I would purchase again for myself, it looks posh enough to give as a gift for a birthday, BBQ or house party. I think it would do well all year round as a mixer, after all the packaging isn't particularly seasonal. Who wouldn't want their buck fizz on Xmas morning to come from this snazzy white bottle!
