Box of Awesome Review ~ Box 7

Well we skipped January, but Box of Awesome are back with their 7th box. The stickers are back in force, along with a new toy, book and a TMNT toy. Whilst not as bountiful as I would have hoped after the short interlude and disappointingly no mega box in sight. It was still a nice little box of goodies.

First up on the collectable list was 2 packs of  Topps Premier League 2013 cards. Each pack had 5 cards, 4 normal and a holographic one

Then we have a Skylanders Giants sticker set. Which serves to successfully encourage and broaden the collection for all Skylanders fans. In the pack were numbers 29, 72, 80, 167 and 195.

Following up with 2 packs of Skylander Swap Force Collector cards. Eight in each pack, they are all funky looking creatures, but I would assume it is the same idea as Top Trumps or Pokemon

Also included is a pack of Skylander Swap Force stickers. Five in a pack, however 4 of mine were 2 stickers to each card. A bit over the top with the Skylander's things but I know there are a lot of collectors.

The book in this BOA is by Michael fry co-author of  the original Over The Hedge comic strip. Published in 2013 The Odd Squad is part of a series following a young boy and his friends as they negotiate bullying and school life. Despite the deeper themes the book is decorated throughout with added cartoons and jokes to make it a more readable light hearted story. It is definitely aimed at younger boys, any who enjoyed Diary of a Wimpy Kid, will love this book. As I already have this book, I'm giving this copy away. Scroll down for the competition.

Finally the TMNT toy! Looking not dissimilar to the Skwooshi idea from the last box and made from Plasticine. The product is contains everything you need to make your own Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Squidgem out of Plasticine. It claims to never dry out or harden, so I can see it appearing in stop motion videos on YouTube shortly!

Contains: 2 x Plasticine colours - green plus the characters key colour either blue (Leo), red (Raph), orange (Mikey) or purple (Donnie), 1 x Features card sheet, 1 x Instruction sheet.

First off you need scissors, I mean you really do, the packaging it un-openable and I tried! The how to make looks lovely and simplistic. However having seen my end result, I think a bit of patience would have helped. Not to mention planning the right amount of Plasticine for each section, as it was my effort simply wouldn't stand because of the weight of the shell(also the legs, arms and head were all too small!). It was great fun playing with it again and the cardboard cut-outs were a nice touch and really quite cool.

Last of all is the obligatory BOA paperwork and stickers, along with cards for Swapit, the safe ebay style bidding site designed specifically for children and contains a bonus 50 points. Unfortunately it is the same code that was included in the last 2 boxes, so subscribers to BOA miss out on the 50 points.
They really need to put out new codes.

  22. Just received BOA#8 must say my boy is not impressed. magazine: out of date, sweets (thanks for the heads up BOA, he is lactose intolerant!), one chapter of a book (nice...) and one book about a boy whos trousers fall down (urm...) my daughter (8) is loving that book, and the magazine has entertained my boy who is currently chopping it up to make "a super cool poster" the football cards have been donated to Dad who looked a bit whimsical as they took him back to his childhood, many MANY years ago...did they even have printers back then my dear?
