Box of OMG Review ~ Box 7 Competition [Ended]

It's time for the seventh Box of OMGfrom the individuals who brought us Box of Awesome, this box is aimed mainly at girls. As usual the goodies were varied to appeal to a range of ages, but you have got to love a Moshi Monsters plushy.

There's also a competition at the end to win this months featured book, so keep reading!

First up 2 packs of One Direction stickers again from Panini. From the 'Blue Collection' there are five stickers in each pack and no doubt there will be a few thousand screaming fan girls who would love these for their sticker books. Obviously I'm a little older than their target market, but there is a quite content fan in the household.

Next there is a sampler from The Diary of Bluebell Gadsby series; Flora in Love. The second instalment dealing delicately with the themes of death, struggling family relationships and loneliness in a wacky family way that it instantly recognisable and genuine.Written by Natasha Farrant a multi talented writer and literary scout combined, it was long listed for the Guardians Children's Book Prize.

I love the way it effortlessly flows through the strange circumstances and truly bizarre occurrences within an average family life. Also included is a dual purpose door hanger, designed to deter unwelcome visitors in the most pleasant way.

In the box is a flyer for The Future 8 awards who, in association with the Guardian, are looking for digitally savvy children and teens to enter in a wide variety of competition categories. From blogging to animation, games to music. They are giving the chance to meet experts from your chosen category. You just have to be 7- 17 year olds and able to impress them. Follow on Facebook or Twitter.

Also in the box this time is a leaflet for Petra's Planet, a safe virtual world for children aged 6-11 to explore, chat to friends and play games and dress up their avatars. With a distinct 'Dora The Explorer' feel to it, you are one of Petra's friends helping her explore the world and learn interesting facts. Originally based on a book series Petra and The Northern Lights, it is ideal for adventure seeking children. The leaflet comes with a code for an exclusive ballerina costume for your pet, and a pack of sweets produced in conjunction with HariboFollow Petra's Planet on Facebook.
There is also all the obligatory Box of OMG  leaflets, stickers and cards detailing the latest competitions and a code for points which count towards earning the next box. A small pack of Haribo Tangfastics is also included, I have to say I adore the sour flavourings on these little sweets.

With the popularity of the online collector world and the recent film showcasing the friendship empowering creatures, it really wasn't a surprise to find out there were plush versions. When I was young they were called teddies or stuffed animals, now they are just 'plushies'. In the box we received a lucky Moshling, called Penny, I bet they really struggled naming this one! Number 11 in the series and already adored by a 3 year old, it is a stuffed penny shaped thing with eyes, who said high tech is what children want!

Now I struggled to thing up a synopsis for Skulduggery Pleasant, apart from fantastic- obviously, but to say surreal would be an understatement. This is the first in a series of 9 award winning books and the fast paced story lends itself well to the action and witty sense of humour that underscores the characters. The author Derek Landy has created a fantasy world with all the classic elements of immortal super-naturals and thrown in a sorcerer, skeleton, detective hero. Along with a variety of others himself and Stephanie Edgely (AKA Valkyrie Cain), an elemental necromancer in training take on 'the faceless ones' in a battle to save the world. Skulduggery Pleasant is a must read book for fantasy readers everywhere, channelling teen series like BuffyTeen Wolf and Supernatural
It is also the chosen prize for the following Competition.

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Due to postage the competition is UK only, the winner will be contacted by email and has one week to respond. If there is no response after stalking by email, Facebook and Twitter, I will redraw a new winner. Good luck folks!
